PSA: Face Reveal Glitch (Resolved. Please read!)

Hey Bleach Amino, Nnoitra here with a very quick but urgent announcement regarding a new glitch we have found on Amino! Please note that we don’t know the full extent of this glitch yet as it is entirely new to us, even so, please be sure to take this blog seriously to protect your privacy!

What is this face reveal glitch

In all basics, your face is revealed! When starting a screening room, we have discovered that the front camera of the who started the screening room activates. The who started the screening room can’t see it themself, but on other s devices who are in the screening room with them, they can see what is in the view of your front camera!

What should I do?

As we will be disabling screening rooms, you don’t have to do anything! However, if you would like to protect yourself in other communities, it would be in your best interest to turn off camera permissions for Amino in the settings of your device. By doing this, it will ensure that if you are happening to screen, your devices camera will not activate and reveal your face to the who are ing in your screening room.

When Can I Screen Again?

Hopefully soon! Team Amino has been ed with this issue, so it should be getting fixed here real soon to ensure your safety around Amino, safety is a big priority for them! Until then, we simply wont have screening rooms enabled.

Once the glitch has been fixed, we will of course be sure to enable screening rooms once again and notify you with an update. We of course don’t want to prohibit you for long, but we want to ensure your safety overall with your Amino experience!

What's the problem?

So we have identified the issue is with a new version of the Agora SDK released in Amino 3.8.8 on iOS. Agora is the technology that powers our voice/screening room/live video chats. This ONLY affects iPhone s on 3.8.8. This update was pushed a few days ago, but Apple slowly ramps up auto updates so that's why people didn't see it until now. To fix this, we have reverted the Agora SDK to an older version and will try to update to an EVEN NEWER version in the future (but will specific check for this bug). We went to the version we went to for compatibility reasons (why we didn't the LATEST).

What does this mean for you?

We have submitted a new version of Amino to Apple for review (3.8.9). Be advised that Apple rolled out it's new ad tracking update today so they might be backlogged on updates (I'm guessing they called in more people to do approvals as well). We will be publishing a Global Announcement once we have the approval from Apple to release 3.8.9. We will inform s of the problem and that they need to update to fix it. We haven't pushed a specific announcement with the problem yet because I feel like y'all have done a good job of disabling and spreading the news already.

We have fixed a bug that showed the 's front-facing camera when screening rooms were paused on iOS. Android s were not affected. If you are an iOS , please update to version 3.8.9 as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone who reported this issue and helped us get it resolved in under 24 hours.
