Shirin grew up in a smaller community, that resides at the South Pole. The very same tribe, that holds the moon, the stars and the sky close to themselves. She was born to the most humble people in the whole world, Izumi and Satoru. The village was small and so Shirin quickly found new friends and together they would play for hours.
With time, she would grasp many useful things and took a special interest in animals, nature and herbs.
༻༺━━━━⁎∗.*.∗⁎━━━━༻༺
Rumours has it, that when Shirin reached 7 years old, she secretly disappeared from her parent’s igloo and tribe itself and didn’t return until the next day. Through when she returned, she wasn’t alone. With a childish smile and elf ears she held a small polar dog, with sparkles in it’s eyes and an injured paw. Both had layers of snow covering them, as if they would be struck by a snow storm while returning home.
When her parents and her sister saw them, she immediately asked, if she could give it a place to heal. both went silent and spent a great 5 minutes staring on each other. Shirin, through, took that as a yes and before they knew it, a dog would wander around the house, barking happily each time someone pet it.
For the next 14 days, Shirin spent all her days taking care of the polar dog with the help of her mom and would take it everywhere she went. By the end of the week, it’s paw was healed and ready to be let out. Through when put on the ground near the village’s entrance, it would not run. Even with Shirin’s encouraging, it kept sitting beside her left leg, as if to wait for her to go herself. With surprise, Shirin looked at her parents, who exchanged views and sighed. Although not used to it, her parents accepted the change and went with the flow. Days later, the family would treat the dog as their own. And with a smile, Shirin gave her a name. Her first name... ,,Ei”...
༻༺━━━━⁎∗.*.∗⁎━━━━༻༺
Although in many people’s eye Shirin was fearless and brave, there was one thing she feared the most. That was, the black snow from her parent’s mentioning...
When one day, she felt the very first black snowflake fall on her sleeve, she knew things was about to change. Even before the villagers started to panic, she took her sister and both hide in their family igloo. Being ten and her sister 7, she took the responsibility to protect her. She hugged Ei and shut her eyes close.
No other sounds was heard, only endless clashing of weapons, her sister tearing up behind her and a piercing snowstorm that almost penetrated into the igloo.
Then a familiar voice reached them. Shaking, Shirin looked up and with hesitation, she cast a brief look outside the igloo. What she didn’t await, was the exact moment she refused to acknowledge could happen...
As Shirin looked up to see the falling snowflakes, Ei put her paw at Shirin’s hand and howled so quietly, that no one but Shirin could hear her...
That day, Shirin and Tori lost their dad to the fire nation...
For years to come, she promised to never talk about that day again, neither to mention it to Tori. Every time someone asks, she dismisses it with ,,He left” and doesn’t continue. Many close people asked her to share her grief with them, but she never did. She prefers to go along her day and grieve by herself. Maybe, someday in the future, she will open up..
༻༺━━━━⁎∗.*.∗⁎━━━━༻༺
Nowadays, in her 15 years old, her day consists of helping her mother take care about her younger sister Tori, playing with Ei and going out with her friends Sokka and Katara. Although not every day, she sometimes goes out for fishing with them. She also likes to watch Katara practice her bending, that she discovered few years after the invasion day.
Many people say, that waterbending is spectacular and to be used in everyday life as a fighting technique. Shirin, through she never had the strongest will to become one, thinks there’s much more to waterbending. It’s not a technique to be used solely for fighting. It’s to be brought into a form person will cherish, hold dear to their heart and watch with honour. It’s benevolence to be formed into a beautiful piece of art to know for all lifetimes.
Her biggest dreams are to continue her family’s legacy. After her dad’s death, all she had were dad’s traditions. She always knew her dad wanted to travel the world. That’s why she wants to see the world for herself, to bring dad’s wish to reality.
You’ll often see Shirin glance at the sky. Better said, the stars and moon. That is her encouragement for living. A piece, part of herself that is to be cherished with utmost importance. As her mother would say, she is the child of the moon. A perfect balance between sociable and loner. When Ei is mentioned, she closes her eyes and smiles as brightly as the brightest star. She doesn’t know what will happen in the future. But she knows one thing...
That snowy day, she lost someone familiar to her and gained someone new. A soulmate for all her lifetime... Ei, a silly polar bear with a greatest sense of fun.
