This is a part of my AAA Nomination Celebration. This piece was from back in early November. It’s one of my personal favorites.
One of my common themes in my work has been mirroring, be it matching poses or literal mirrors. In this case, I’ve taken it to the idea of a reflection of Avatar Korra and my OC Avatar successor to her, Kiku.
The picture can be displayed in either direction. The quadrants are divided to show the four elements. The script in each corner is the symbol of that element in the simplified Chinese used in the original work. The order of the elements is meant to show both of their base element, and the element they had the most innate affinity to.
The line art took about two and a half hours, and coloring about eight. Materials used were copic sketch markers, pencil and illustration pen.
