Hellooooo Avatar Amino! Welcome to my entry for #WaterTribePoem2021 :D I dabbled a lot on this poem and the character I was gonna choose, and then I thought it would be super interesting to write a poem from Hama’s perspective. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it! Now let’s get to it!

I can still feel the fire surrounding me,

That day of agony, I can never unsee.

But I am in control now, don’t know if it’s odd,

The world is my puppet, cause it’s in my blood.

They thought I was weak, a helpless girl,

That I’d wait for an end, and in my cell I’d curl.

But oh were they wrong, I now control them all,

Like a couple of rats, I’ll make them fall.

Yes it’s in my blood, it always was,

Trying to fight back now, is a lost cause.

Just sit down and wait, wait for the disaster,

Because from now on, I am your Puppetmaster.

Firstly, we start of with a sentence that symbolizes the day of the raid of the fire nation. We see how Hama was traumatized by that day, and that she can’t forget about it. We then see the sentence: “But I am in control now,” referencing the fact that she can control people with her bloodbending. The word puppet is also a reference to her puppets in the episode and how she controls people. The poem name, it’s in my blood, is a reference to bloodbending once again. In the second verse, we see the days of Hama where she was in her prison cell and was thought of as helpless, but then she takes the control by learning bloodbending. The word rats in the last sentence is a reference to how she bloodbent on rats as her first experience. The last verse is pretty self explanatory, but we will go over it. It shows how Hama has always had it inside her, and that she is not helpless anymore with her new found ability. The last sentence of the poem is a reference to the episode name, and I also like how it ends the poem with a creep factor.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this, and thank you if you made it this far! Have a nice day and stay safe!
