"OUCHIE!"

"Quit being a baby," Mako complains, lifting up Wu's bare, brown calf to inspect him. "It's a cut. You'll live."

Wu's lower lip juts. "But I've never had a cut like this before."

"… Tell me you're kidding."

Mako has been doing his best to teach Wu how to punch—well, how to dodge Mako's punches—with little success, until Wu finally managed to sidestep a pleasantly surprised Mako.

Wu then succeeded tripping on nothing, hitting his right leg on the nearby table and yelling "WU DOWN!" with more enthusiasm than him trying to learn any sparring lessons, Mako suspects.

(It could just be how it is when somebody like Prince Wu grew up in the lap of luxury.)

He has Wu clutch onto his bright green cushion-helmet, while Mako finds a bowl of clean, warm water and a rag. "I suppose… you'll be learning about a lot of firsts while staying at Asami's," Mako says, mumbling and seating himself in front of Wu.

Wu blows a curl out of his face, visibly aggravated. He then grins.

"Who was your first"

Mako's eyebrows furrow. "I'm not gonna tell you that," he mumbles, wiping the tiniest dot of blood off Wu's cut.

"Aww, cmon! I haven't even had my FIRST kiss! You gotta give me something!"

"…really?" Mako asks, now intrigued as Wu hesitates, turning away with another pouting, but grumpy, look.

"Don't, uhm… don't tell anyone, Mako, okay? Especially not the Avatar."

That's fair. Mako knows Korra would have a picnic with this, gossiping to an equally amused Bolin and Asami as soon as she heard from Mako.

"I won't tell," Mako says quietly, soaking the rag into the warm water. The corners of Mako's mouth uplift.

"How about you do it, Mako?"

"What?"

"You gotta be a good kisser—you've kissed two of the loveliest ladies I've ever seen! And you kissed a bunch of other people, right!?"

It's only ever been Asami and Korra, Mako thinks. It's not the greatest memories either.

Mako rubs the back of his neck, frowning.

"You should ask someone else…"

"I'm asking YOU, you lovable lug, you!" Wu says cheerfully, slapping Mako's elbow.

Mako holds back the urge to roll his eyes, even if good-naturedly, leaning over to quickly peck Wu on the cheek. For a brief moment, he feels his heat and the bristle of Wu's facial hair.

"There," Mako declares, his voice monotone. "You happy now?"

"Um, NO!" Wu hobbles onto his feet when Mako stands. "A kiss, Mako! A real kiss on the lips!" He jabs to his with a finger.

"Wu…"

"Are you my big STRONG bodyguard or not?!"

Mako frowns deeper. "That's got nothing to do with—"

"Kiss kiss kiss!"

The twice-as-enthusiastic chanting floods into Mako's psyche, along with the memory of Wu's heat, and he makes a stupid decision.

A little stupid—okay, not stupid but definitely way too impulsive—

Mako growls out something like "fine!" and digs his hand into Wu's tousled, brown curls, yanking him in.

He's soft. So soft and smells like blue lavender.

Wu feels soft against Mako's fingers fisting, and against Mako's nose and mouth when he tilts his head, kissing Wu closemouthed once.

Mako notices Wu has a deeply dazed expression, pulling away. Wu's hands stiffen, clenched up at his sides.

"…oh?"

"Yeah," Mako rasps, unsure what he's agreeing to. The inside of Mako's head feels full of buzzard-wasps.

Wu's eyes sharpen, losing the daze.

He yanks on Mako, hands cradling him, their lips mashing until Mako feels the hard front of Wu's teeth pressing on his.

It's so clumsy, how Wu opens his mouth hungrily into another spit-covered kiss, how he swipes his thumbs across Mako's jaw, but spirits—Mako's entire body starts to tingle.

So much for Wu's little cut taking priority.

"Oh my goodness—MAKO!"

Grandma Yin hurries over, smacking him on the arm as if reprimanding him.

Mako breaks from the kiss, jolting.

A loopy-smiling Wu doesn't seem to notice.

"You're going to SUFFOCATE the poor prince!!" she exclaims. "Do you not what happened to the Earth Queen!?"

Grandma Yin faces towards the direction of the gilded portrait of Hou-Ting, holding her hands together.

"May she rest in peace."

"Grandma," Mako says slowly, doubtfully, "that's… that's not what is happening…"

Wu perks up. "Grandma Mako, can I have some of those yummy pork dumplings now?"

"Of course you can, my prince. I'll heat them right up."

An exasperated Mako pinches his nose.

"Shall we?" Wu exaggerates deepening his voice, sending Grandma Yin a big, handsome grin as he presents his arm.

She drapes a hand to her forehead, swooning loudly and falling off her feet.

Mako catches her in a split-second, gawking to Wu.

"Will you stop doing that?"

"Doing what?"

"… Nevermind."
