Avatar Anonymous Confession #71:
"I really dislike it when somebody puts a character in a bad light when defending/disagreeing with a ship. For example, I've seen people saying Maiko wouldn't work because "Mai was insensitive to Zuko" or "Zutara would've worked because Aang didn't treat Katara right." (These two arguments are just what I see most often)."

I feel like you don't have to blame anyone to make a good argument. I'm okay when they mention a character's faults and would-be ones, but just saying that they're BAD to someone else is kinda out of line. When talking about ships properly, you have to try looking at the dynamic and its possibilities instead of hitting individual weak spots.
I'd much rather prefer things like "Zutara would work because of how good their teamwork is" or "I think Maiko doesn't compliment each other because their potential friendship would be wasted." Just my opinion though."

I agree, yet disagree with this confession. I agree that when somebody focuses on a character, it belittles the argument, forgetting what the other did in the relationship; but when it comes to relationships, one has to analyze both characters for an argument to be valid. Maiko isn't just Mai, as Kataang isn't just Aang.
