20th Anniversary

Hello Avatar Amino!! Today marks the day when Avatar was introduced to the world, and there are many things I could say about this amazing show, write a whole dissertation even. But the leadership team and I would actually like to hear from all of you!

I'll be going first

Avatar has always been a part of my life, much like everyone here. I can't quite my first time watching the show, being that I'm one year older. What I do is that it piqued the interest of the mind of young Tonro. My imagination ran wild, so much so that some of the scenes from the show were altered in my mind, like when Aang first entered the Avatar state and mops the floor with Zuko and the firebenders, or when Roku possess Aang and sinks his temple. This show sparked my creativity in nearly every way.

My fondest memory of the show was actually when I was at tennis camp. Why was I watching ATLA at tennis camp? You might ask, it was a very hot day and the teachers couldn't be bothered. The episodes that came on were Return to Omashu and The Swamp. Watching these episodes for the first time at tennis camp with my best friend was amazing. It was nearing the time for us to leave, and I didn't want to go, but the first thing I did after getting home was run to turn on the tv.

I have many favourite episodes in the series, but I decided to talk about one I don't see in too many lists or brought up when people discuss their favourites. The Old Masters, in this episode, Aang disappears and wakes up on a mysterious island, which turns out to be a lion turtle. While attempting to find his whereabouts, he ends up receiving advice from his past lives. I enjoyed his interactions with all, but his one with Yangchen stood out to me the most. Aang is very proud of his beliefs, and he has to uphold the air nomad culture. Yangchen advised that the Avatar had to put their duty to the world, above their own spiritual needs and beliefs. It showcased just how different their eras were, Yangchen was able to sacrifice what Aang could not, as he was the last Air Nomand. To see his inner turmoil increase in such a way was remarkable. The Gaang ended up travelling to Ba Sing Se to seek help from Iroh (and I must say, they got there very quickly, as Appa was working overtime). Seeing Zuko and Iroh reunite after so long was heartwarming and the way Iroh immediately forgave him, that's Zuko's real father fr.

And then Aang going on the meet the lion turtle, BANGER, SMASH HIT, 10/10, SPECTACULAR GIVE ME 14 OF THEM RIGHT NOWWWW

As a little bonus, young Tonro adored these action figures, right up until he lost them at the beach (spirit Aang is still lost at sea to this day)
