Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

I've tried to tone this part down

as much as I could. Drvg and

alcohol mention TW.

The scene opens to Eren ordering a ridiculous amount of desert; food is one of his many unhealthy coping mechanisms. He's wearing an expensive, over the top blue suit with a matching fedora, the hat hiding the fact that his hair was starting to thin.

The camera pans around to reveal that sitting across from his is his lyricist and best friend, Armin. Armin's blonde hair is up in a small ponytail, a brown jacket covering a simple dress shirt.

"Where's Jean these days?" Armin asks. He hadn't been able to keep up since he had returned home, Eren seeming to almost cut him off.

"Uh... Does it matter? He hates my damned guts." Eren spits back, making it clear to Armin that he had already started drinking before they made it to the restaurant.

"Nobody hates you, Eren." Eren treats the two martinis in front of them like simple shots, managing to down them both like it was nothing. "Campaign to kill yourself is going well, I see."

"What are you doing here, Armin, hm? You left when it suited you, and now you come back to lecture me?" It was evident that the additional alcohol was already hitting the brunette. Armin always believed it was due to a placebo effect. "Because the thing is, the first time we actually got anywhere you left, didn't you? Some girl was more important to you than me and all those other legends who were welcoming us in." Eren's voice cracks, his anger briefly subsiding. "You left me at the most important time, Armin."

"When did you give up?" His voice is monotone, but soft. "If you don't care about yourself, how do you expect anyone else-"

"Whenever I needed you most, you weren't there-"

"It's not weak to ask for help." Armin quickly cuts him off.

"I have worked my balls off to get us out of shit, day in, day out, for years, and now it's me who can't walk down the streets. It's me who doesn't have a life 'cause I dont get to sit around with my feet on a desk chewing on the end of a pencil." The anger is back, and it seems to have been increased ten times.

"Just write the lyrics, Armin, I'll take care of the rest." He repeats what Eren had told him early into their friendship, back when they were fresh faced musicians.

"That was a test!" There's pure malice in his voice; the boy that Armin befriended all those years ago was gone, replaced by a man who let money and fame get to him. "You should've known."

The music starts to play as Armin stares at Eren. "When are you gonna come down? When are you going to land? I should've stayed on the farm, I should've listened to my old man." He pulls his jacket out from behind him and stands up, putting it on as he starts to walk away. "Maybe you'll get a replacement, there's plenty like me to be found."

"Oh, I'm being left with the bill, am I, Armin?" When Armin doesn't turn to look at him, he stands up. "Wait. Armin!" He follows behind Armin, watching as the blonde starts to get into a car.

"So goodbye yellow brick road, where the dogs of society howl..."

"Don't be so dramatic." Eren watches the car pull away, seeing Armin refuse to make eye with him. "COWARD! SAME AS ALWAYS!" He screams, the alcohol in his system making him disregard everyone around him. "LEAVING ME WHEN THINGS GET TOO REAL!"

The scene shifts. Eren is now in his mansion, staggering up the stairs. When he gets close to the top, he hugs the banister and sits down, mumbling to himself. "You idiot..." He can't tell if he's crying or not. "YOU IDIOT!"

The scene shifts again. Jean, dressed in a simple black suit, is sitting in a van with tinted black windows. It's revealed that after Eren got home, something happened and he fell down the stairs, having a heart attack. It's implied that it was due to his alcohol and drvg abuse.

"I heard it was a heart attack." The man on the other end of phone says, concern evident in his voice.

"A chest infection, Marco." Jean corrects. "He's going to be there. How are the ticket sales."

"Through the roof, every night is sold out, but... Is that really something you should be asking? He's in the hospital. He could've died!"

"That's great to hear. Add five more nights, then." Jean completely ignores Marco's concern. All he cares about is the money. "Trust me, he'll be there. I'll take care of everything. Talk to you later, okay?"

The camera pans to a sign that has Eren's name on it; it's now the day of the concert. There's a huge crowd standing both outside of and inside the venue, everyone excitedly talking.

Eren is in his dressing room, staring at his reflection. He's lost weight, there's dark circles under his eyes, and he's rapidly losing his hair; he both looks and feels like absolute garbage. The camera pans away to someone working on his costume, and you can hear snorting. Once the shot is back on him, his hands are shaking as blood drips from his nose. He's going to die if something doesn't change.

Offscreen he changes into his costume. As he goes to sit down in his chair, a stylist brings over a pair of red wings as Eren reaches for horn hat. With every part of his costume finally on, he stares at himself once again; he was finally his true self, a devil. Something needs to change, and it needs to change right now.

"So what do you think you'll do then? Bet they'll shoot down your plane." Eren starts to sing, turning his head to look at himself in another mirror. "It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics to set you on your feet again." His voice cracks, his mind quickly making the decision to finally get help. "You know they can't hold you forever, I didn't sign up with you." He puts his signature glasses on and stands up, walking out of the dressing room. He wasn't going to perform, nor was he going for a drink. No, it was finally time.

It was finally time for him to get help.

"I'm not a present for your friends to open, this boy's too young to be singing the blues."
