Attention AOT Amino

Many of you have likely heard the rumors by now regarding the resurgence of the "Blue Whale Challenge" across numerous social media platforms. Initially this was reported on Twitter and Discord, then Instagram, and now it has found it's way onto Amino as well.

What You Need to Know

First and foremost, you are not in any physical danger. While the "Blue Whale Challenge" technically exists, it is merely a powerful hoax which is based on fear mongering. Meaning, these are a group of trolls spreading around rumors and sending cryptic or disturbing messages meant to scare random unlucky recipients.

They are *not* hackers, and they do *not* have access to any of your personal information, despite any rumors to the contrary. Again, the power of this hoax (like many others) comes from fear and panic based on misinformation. Protect yourself by understanding the facts and practicing good Internet Safety.

What to Look Out For

These trolls are creating s, usually under the name "johnathan galindo" or just "galindo" with either a plain black or unsettling PFP, and messaging random asking them to play a game. Here is an example:

How to Report

If you receive one of these messages or notice a suspicious profile, do NOT engage with the member. Don't open messages or click any links. Simply report the profile to any Leader and we will handle it. It is important the report goes to a Leader, as they are the only mods capable of banning .
