While Zel wasn't always in the process of crafting weapons, he possessed some basic knowledge of medical practices despite not being fully trained as a medic. This understanding was particularly important for him to have because it assured that if he ever accidentally injured himself during his craftsmanship activities or if one of his fellow samurai happened to get hurt while testing out those newly crafted weapons against wooden dummies, he would be able to provide necessary first aid and care. Having this foundational medical acumen served as an essential skill set whenever there was potential harm associated with weaponry tasks both for self-care and mutual safety among the warriors practicing their martial skills.
