Since it has come to this I present: THE PIZZERIA ARGUMENT

Hello everybody it is Kawa here once again and today the topic of my ramblings might seem a little unusual, but please do bare with me.

:warning: Long post warning :warning:

By the means of a metaphor I shall explain just how and why calling the newest games bearing the title of "Assassin's Creed" as AC games is not only incorrect, but absolutely stupid.

For the purpose of this metaphor let us then forget that we are talking about Assassin's Creed, or that I just called you stupid for believing these games are Assassin's Creed games, shall we? Let us now imagine I own a beautiful Pizzeria in Somewhere Street located in Ambiguity City. The name of this Pizzeria is Pizzeria.

Since it has come to this I present: THE PIZZERIA ARGUMENT-Hello everybody it is Kawa here once again and today the topic of

Pizzeria was the first of its kind in this city. Back in the day it used to be loved and cherished by many people as it was innovative and delivered good pizzas. Somewhere along the line the pizzas I served started to become less appealing, as I was delivering them faster, but with a lesser taste, and in some cases undercooked in some parts. This was a problem and it needed solving.

In Ambiguity City there have been a lot of Sushi Houses opening lately. People love sushi it seems, and there are lines each night for all of the sushi places all around town.

This gives me an idea. So I lay down all my options:

1. Give up on the restaurant business altogether;

2. Make improvements to my pizzas and give people what they expect from Pizzeria;

3. Start anew with a project for a Sushi House replacing my Pizzeria business.

But then another idea hits me! I realize that some people come to my place because it is a pizzeria, and those people will most certainly still come if I keep that name, even if I start to sell sushi to them and discard the pizzas, all of which will add up to the people that want sushi. And like that I could increase my consumer base, thus increasing my profits.

And so is born the option number 4:

4. Keep the name but stop selling pizza altogether in detriment of selling sushi.

And so after a while I reopen as Pizzeria, but sell sushi.

Imagine yourself entering this establishment for the first time. You would without the slightest of doubts say out loud in absolute dismay:

- - - - - - - - -

"What the actual f*ck?"

- - - - - - - - -

No one would call my Pizzeria as Pizzeria, and the ones that did, would be in mockery against me and my Pizzeria.

Still since Sushi is so fashionable these days my clientele base would only grow bigger, not because my product was good, and not because my service was outstanding or even because I treated my clients good, but because my product is in high demand.

And as you see, by caring more about money than about my integrity and more importantly the integrity of my establishment and my products, I have just destroyed what the name Pizzeria represented.

But this isn't the full extent of the problem. I haven't made almost any alterations to Pizzeria.

-What alterations would there be needed?

A lot. We would need to completely overhaul the kitchen and change up the chefs and cooks as they aren't used or prepared to this food style. We also need to change our image, although that can be difficult because we haven't changed names have we?

Now imagine that I haven't changed my kitchen. The layout is the same as if I continued to produce pizzas, the accessories are still the same and the counters continue suited for the making of pizzas. What's more is that the personnel is still the same. I have people who do not know how to prepare sushi, and I have people who do not know how to serve sushi.

My food isn't good. It isn't well served. It isn't comparable to what the other sushi places serve. But still I strive. With some criticism, but I still strive. The product is in high demand, and for as long as the market maintains like that I know I will make a profit, so I have no incentive to stop.

- - - - - - - - -

After the first and second years, I decide to add some new elements to the menu, in result of some continuous criticism. So garlic bread and mini-pizzas are now an option for ordering.

I do so trying to apprise to the people that said that Pizzeria wasn't a pizzeria anymore.

These are obviously just some second class garlic bread and mini-pizzas that were bought frozen from Ambiguity City's local market, heated up and served as they were. Just to shut them up honestly.

Let us create yet another, but final I promise, imaging exercise

You enter at Pizzeria after god knows how many years and are confronted with its current state. You notice that the place now serves some bad sushi, and has some garlic bread and mini-pizzas as an appetizer just to excuse maintaing the name.

Tell me how would you be able to not stand there in perplexity and dismay and say out loud:

- - - - - - - - -

"What the actual f*ck?"

- - - - - - - - -

You totally do understand that these people like sushi, and that they will pay for it even if by your standards it isn't even a good one. But what you can't understand is how someone had the idea of continue to call it Pizzeria after all these bad changes.

=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=|=

I was going to make a list at the end of this post, saying what everything I argued corresponded in the Assassin's Creed case, but I decided against it as I believe that it isn't difficult to see exactly to which thing I was referring when I constructed this argument.

I wanted to close this off by saying that I have no problem with you liking this current direction of the series, nor do I want to see these genre go away, but that I merely think that this isn't Assassin's Creed anymore, and that calling it that is disrespectful in a way to the vision and soul of the series.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

A very sad Kawa out. And we'll see each other next time.

You're still on about this? How's about this, what Assassin's Creed means to you is not what Assassin's Creed means to everyone else nor does it have to coincide with whatever direction the franchise decides to take.

This whole stupid notion of what Assassin's Creed IS should have died years ago when games like Black Flag proved that this franchise could be so much more than a one sided power struggle between rival factions and that their invisible DOESN'T just affect them.

Yes I am still on about this and I shall forever be.

Is not really what Assassin's Creed means to me Vs what it means to everyone else. If is what it actually is, Vs what Ubisoft calls it to be now.

Assassin's Creed has its 10 commandments as those define what Assassin's Creed is. Not me, not M.A.K. Dynasty and not some random employee at Ubisoft that doesn't follow them.

And so, just like if you were to change the rules for football, by adding a second ball, adding a second smaller goal on top of the first that gives 2 goals instead of one, and making the possibility for infinite substitutions, people might as well love it. And it might even become the next big thing, but it isn't football my dude and nothing will change that.

Like I said in the post people may like these games as much as they like, but calling them Assassin's Creed games is purely incorrect. And that's not my opinion, but the facts of the story

That's your opinion that you are trying to off as a fact merely because of your own personal animosity and bitterness towards the new direction of the franchise which doesn't make your stance on the matter any more factual than if a newer fan were to say that the older games aren't Assassin's Creed on of them adhering to an old and outdated gameplay design and philosophy which the series no longer s.

I'm so tired of people tried to dictate what Assassin's Creed is and could be over the people who actually make the darn games to begin with especially to people like me who have been with the franchise since day one. And trying to use your stance as an "true fan" to try and put yourself on a high pedestal over those who favor this new direction over the older series isn't going to work for me.

Assassin's Creed is no longer a franchise defined purely by the Assassin/Templar conflict or has to be seen from their perspective and that's NOT a bad thing and trying to dismiss people who think otherwise as "incorrect" is wrong.

In fact, your pizzeria example is flawed in many ways. For one, Assassin's Creed isn't as novel or a simplistic as merely making and/ or selling pizzas in a pizzeria. Assassin's Creed is an ever growing every changing franchise that constantly swaps time periods between new entries which brings about new technologies, tactics, and innovations (As to be expected.). Assassin's Creed has never been a truly contemporary or stationary franchise sticking to one tried and true method throughout the majority of it's lifespan and the brief moments that it did it was criticized for it prompting a new change. The current direction also wouldn't be categorized as selling half baked at a pizzeria. More like the Domino's effect where they began selling wings and other foods while still keeping pizza a main priority and eventually changing the name from "Domino's Pizza" to just "Domino's" because they are more than just pizza. Such a decision wasn't costly for them and they are still one of the top food chains out their especially when it comes to pizza which a success story more in line with what's happening with Assassin's Creed since the franchise is more successful than it ever was prior and more people clearly seem to favor the new direction over those that don't.

Assassin's Creed not being Assassin's Creed IS a bad thing and calling out people for believing it isn't a bad thing is right.

I am glad that Assassin's Creed isn't stagnant water, but I would argue that the "innovations" you speak of are practical inexistent. I would go even further and say that it hasn't innovate in any aspect for quite some years now. Assassin's Creed goes to many places and many time periods, and each of those require different tactics and technologies. I am glad that Assassin's Creed doesn't stick with what works and tries new things, but you need boundaries. These new things aren't really new to be honest, they are cheap copies of what other games the market has to offer.

This direction doesn't coincide with what guidelines were set prior and the "natural path" for this series to grow. You can't have one thing one moment and swing to another thing immediately and expect that people will find it fine, because if isn't.

And Domino's seems to have realised that their business practices were no longer in line with their name, thus changing it. So I really don't get what you are trying to say there. If Ubisoft did what you say Domino's did I would be happy as f*ck. Not having any Assassin's Creed games would be better than to have something not Assassin's Creed with its name for some reason (money).

And yes I have a very big, gigantic even, animosity towards this direction to the franchise, and quite sadly it seems it only grows bigger and stronger. I need you to understand that this is well beyond what is reasonable, and that I have no control over it. But at the same time the Earth doesn't become any less round because of my animosity towards flat earthers does it?
