Legend by Marie Lu : It tells of how a new system of government called " The Republic " blocked itself off from the rest of the world because of volcanic eruptions and floods, leaving the people on the outside of this border or " The Colonies " left to fend for themselves out there. Besides that, it tells off two characters. One of them is Day, he watches over his family trying his best to not lose them since they are he has left. Day is apparently a criminal, yet he is only trying to stop the twisted Republic from winning against the colonies and getting medicine for his family. While the other character is June, who is one of the generals daughter. She is trying to find Day because of a murderous act he 'committed.' Want to know what crime Day 'committed'? Want to know why The Republic is so twisted? Read and find out! >:3

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan : It's about how Jason the son of Poseidon meets his friends Leo and Piper who are also sons and daughters of God's, making them all demigods. Give an example of something you have written.

I know very well this isn't as narrative, but I haven't written a narrative in quite some time. I'm sorry if this won't be legible to count as a good application or even a application. . .I tried my best to find one of my old ones but my drive deletes old stuff that I haven't touched in a long time. . . terribly sorry for the inconvenience. . .

Edgar Allen Poe produces many short stories like The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado, and Hop-Frog.  Each story is told from the narrator's perspective about the main character from the story.  In the story The Raven, the narrator is a man who is mourning over his lost “Lenore.”  Another story would be The Cask of Amontillado; the narrator is another man whose name is Montresor, who seeks vengeance against another man named Fortunato because he had insulted him for the last time.  The last story that will be mentioned is Hop-Frog, who is a crippled dwarf seeking revenge against a cruel and harsh king.  Each story’s effect on the reader all depends on how the characters are acting and what events are taking place in the story.

In the story The Raven; it tells specifically of a man and who he is mourning over a maiden, named “Lenore.”  The man's name is not identified since the short story only talks about the narrator's pain and “Lenore,” who has ed away somehow.  Now the man is left alone with this sorrow and grief of his dead friend. Most events that occurred lead the reader to believe that the man will forever mourn over “Lenore.”  The main character feels the loss of his friend deeply and his broken heart seemingly will never mend. Since Lenore isn’t coming back and the narrator knows it, he is filled with an overwhelming sorrow and crippling loneliness.  Not to mention, the Raven who has appeared suddenly in the story, tells him his sorrow and pain won’t ever be relieved. This evidence from the text proves this, it says “ Leave my loneliness unbroken!--quit the bust above my! Take thy beak from out my heart, and take thy form from off my door! Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”  When it says “Leave my loneliness unbroken” the narrator is saying I don’t want to continue to be alone anymore.  I want someone here with me. Meaning he wants, specifically, his Lenore back. The pain he feels is also described in the story, when it says “Take thy beak from out my heart.”  He is talking about how the pain he feels in his heart and how he wishes it would be relieved.  The Raven in the story shows that he is denied from relief, which is why it says “Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”  What the evidence is saying all together is that his loneliness and pain will forever haunt him and he wishes he could take it away but he knows he will forever be grieving over his lost Lenore.  Since the main character gives off a very depressing and sorrowful mood, the reader's perspective of this main character is that he is sorrow filled with out his Lenore. Another piece of evidence that proves this would be when it says “From my books surcease of sorrow--sorrow for the lost Lenore--For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels named Lenore--Nameless here for evermore.”  When it says “sorrow for the lost Lenore” he specifically says he feels sorrow because his Lenore isn’t with him. It also says “Nameless here for evermore” meaning her name is longer mentioned on this Earth because she is gone, since he misses everything about her just not hearing her name must cause him a lot of pain as well.

In The Cask of Amontillado, the reader has a perspective of the events that happened and of the main characters in the story.  In The Cask of Amontillado it tells of a man named Montresor. He is a middle aged man seeking revenge against a wine-taster named Fortunato.  Both are relatively rich and during this time, a festival is going on. Montresor secretly plans to take down Fortunato because he has wronged and insulted Montresor for the last time.  Most events that occured in this story lead the reader to believe that due to Fortunaato’s wrongdoing, Montresor is out for revenge. In the beginning of this story the first sentence states, “The thousand injuries of Fortunato had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge.”  Meaning Montresor is definitely out for revenge, after all it does say “The thousand injuries of Fortunato” meaning Fortunato has done something he is about to regret. Although; why does he have to get revenge, couldn’t he just have talked to him instead? Not what it says though, “A wrong is undressed when retribution overtakes its redresser--I forget your arms.  A huge human foot d’or, in a field azure; the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel.  And the motto? Nemo me impune lit.” First off; he believes that a wrong is not set right when a reward overtakes the person into doing the task, so when he’s out for revenge it is because of a reason and not reward.  As it states right here, “A wrong is undressed when retribution overtakes its redresser.”  Second, his arms is like a family motto he follows by.  Nemo me impune lit means No one attacks me with intent to punish.  This is why he’s getting revenge by killing, because when he’s ‘attacked’ he will not talk it out he will strike back and in the end he will win.  As said so right in the text, “I forget your arms. A huge human foot d’or, in a field azure; the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel.  And the motto? Nemo me impune lit.” Since Fortunato lost to Montresors ‘revenge course’ he was considered as a fool, because he had several chances to suspect or even runaway from his seenly demise yet he didn’t.  Through these missed opportunities and very obvious hints, the reader is lead to believe that Fortunato is the fool in the story. One reason Fortunato is a fool is because he had overfilled with alcohol, thus making him very clueless as to what is happening and his senses very dull and cloudy.  As said right here, “--He accosted me with excessive warmth, for he had been drinking too much.” Another reason Fortunato is a fool is because he was dressed up as a jester or as a fool. If you saw someone wearing tight pants and a cap with bells on it you think what a foolish outfit or stupid looking outfit.  “--The man wore motley. He had on a tight-fitting parti-striped dress, and his head was surmounted by the conical cap and bells.” Third reason Fortunato is a fool is because he had missed several key hints they weren’t going to go taste a Amontillado. They were going down to a dark basement just to taste wine; you think he would think why are we going so far downstairs, but since he’s full of wine his thinking is clearly clouded.  “--I ed down a long and winding staircase, requesting him to be cautious as he followed. We came at length to the foot of the descent, and stood together upon the damp ground of the catacombs of the Montresors.” His death was completely because of his foolish state and it just so happens that Montresor had had enough of Fortunato and just couldn’t tolerate it anymore.

In Hop-Frog, the reader has a perspective of the events that happened and of the main characters in the story.  In Hop-Frog, it’s about a crippled dwarf who serves the king when he is bored or as being a joke and if the king requests him for anything else.  Even though Hop-Frog doesn’t oppose as a threat, he actually is. He came up with a very smart and elaborate plan, and his insane mannered way of thinking played a major part.  He was able to eliminate the cruel king; his death wasn’t for no reason though, it was all for the love of his sweet Trippeta. Most events that occured in this story lead the reader to believe that the King’s cruelty towards Trippeta has made Hop-Frog vengeful.  The king was cruel to Trippeta in the first place because she was trying to help out Hop-Frog and in the end she had wine splashed on her for no reason. In the king's mind he thought she deserved it because she thought she had the audacity to stand up to him like that, even though she didn't think she had the audacity she was just trying to help Hop-Frog out that's all.  Not to mention, she was violently pushed for no reason. She could have suffered major injuries by falling back, yet the King still had done it anyway. As said, "Poor fellow! His large eyes gleamed, rather than shone; for the effect of wine on his excitable brain was not more powerful than instantaneous.--Trippetta, pale as a corpse, advanced to the monarch’s seat, and falling on her knees before him, implored him to spare her friend.--At last, without uttering a syllable, he pushed her violently from him, and threw the contents of the brimming goblet in her face.”  Since the King was so cruel to Trippeta for no reason that's why Hop-Frog was furious at him and filled with maniacal rage to seek vengeance against him. He decided to come up with a plan and in the end, the King and his 7 counselors died. As stated, "I now see distinctly." he said, "what manner of people these maskers are. They are a great king and his seven privy-councillors, -- a king who does not scruple to strike a defenceless girl and his seven councillors who abet him in the outrage. As for myself, I am simply Hop-Frog, the jester -- and this is my last jest."  Owing to the high combustibility of both the flax and the tar to which it adhered, the dwarf had scarcely made an end of his brief speech before the work of vengeance was complete. The eight corpses swung in their chains, a fetid, blackened, hideous, and indistinguishable mass." He had said "before the work of vengeance was complete." This definitely indicates that he was very furious at the King and wanted vengeance so bad he had killed them by setting them up in chains and lighting them on fire till they were burnt to a crisp. Even though Hop-Frog did murder eight people total, the reader still has to believe that Hop-Frog and Trippeta are the good guys while the King is the really monster here.  One reason why the King is the bad guy because he only had Hop-Frog in the castle just to make fun of his crippled and dwarfish body. It wasn't his fault for being like this and probably being made fun of everyday couldn't be good for your health or your self-esteem. The King was basically a big, oily, and fat jerk. As it's stated right here, “I never knew anyone so keenly alive to a joke as the king was. He seemed to live only for joking.--Dwarfs were as common at court, in those days, as fools; and many monarchs would have found it difficult to get through their days without both a jester to laugh with, and a dwarf to laugh at.--so that it as no small source of self-graduation with our king that, in Hop-Frog(this was the fool’s name)” A second reason to why the King is the bad guy in this situation is because he forcibly took Hop-Frog and Trippeta out of their homes. "Hop-Frog and a young-girl very little less dwarfish than himself had been forcibly carried off from their respective homes in ading provinces and sent as presents to the king by one of his ever-victorious generals.”  Now, what gives the right to call Trippeta and Hop-Frog the heroes of this story? Since they have killed the cruel king, they have ridden the world of two things. One an evil and unfair monarchy and two a person who has the heart and soul if a demon. The reason he is dead is because it says "Here pretending to scrutinize the king more closely, he held the flambeau to the flaxen coat which enveloped him and which instantly burst into a sheet of vivid flame.” This means that he had meant his fate in the flames of heck in the end, due to his cruel and mean ways. The one who did this deed was Hop-Frog, seeing this and how cruel the King was Hop-Frog had done the right thing.

Edgar Allen Poe  has written these stories, all to tell a purpose.  Through the characters and the events that occurred the reader was able to identify many different things as to why the characters did these actions.  Whether it be because they are terribly lonely or whether revenge is in play, they still convinced the reader what perspective they should have off the characters.  Thus creating a purpose of the stories that are told. Plus, it tells of who and what are characters are about. Whether they are greedy, heroic, selfless, aggressive, hyper, etc.  It gives off what the reader sees as who the character is, as if they are actually a person.

[U] Saw this out and was like

"Mmm. . ."

She felt the morning sun peek through her light pastel curtains, it gave the sunshine a light pastel pink tone to it. She sat up in her memory foam laced bed, she rubbed her eyes gentle. She then pushed back her white sheet and comforter, she lay sitting at the edge of the bed. She smiled enthusiastically and raised up from her bed. She looked around her room and saw the same old designs, her room had a calming and peaceful rest that made it quite comfy to everyone that walked inside. Her walls were a light pastel pink and a light pastel purple, her door was a bright white that shimmered in the sunshine. Her bed was in the middle of her room; her frame was oak wood painted with the same shimmering white used on her door, it was the main attraction of the room. Her bed frame looked like it was delicately crafted with a natural look intended, craved in the wood were several designs of different sized butterflies that delicately rested on a sunflower, not just one sunflower but a whole field of them. The beds poles were even carved in a twisted motion; all the way into a point, where on that point stood a butterfly. Their were butterflies at the top of the bed, while sunflowers loomed at the end. Her room had a small white dresser filled with feminine products, make-up, perfume, hair brushes, etc. The main thing that stood out were her picture of the environment from where she lived; they were taped on the side to the big mirror that lay infront of the dresser, the big mirror was held on by two small poles. Her small light mint polaroid camera was the last item that lay their, it was low on film and she needed to grab more from the store. The dresses was on the left side of her room, near the sliding door. On the other side of the room; she had a white painted desk, it had a laptop which was currently charging at the moment. A white colored stool sat under from the desk and the girl's book bag. Her book bag was grey with a bunch of silly faces printed all over the front and back of of it, it had many small pockets to keep supplies in.

" I should check outside. . . I hope it's still their. . . "

She thought to herself as she inched ever so closer to her sliding door, she pushed away her pink see-threw curtains, unlocked the sliding door and went outside onto the balcony. She always had a fear of losing her tower, she didn't know why she just did. This tower represented alot about her city, it shows how the city is determined when they can work together and how their is Grace and Elegance forever looming in her city.

Her balcony was completely made of white concrete, it was not just a balcony though. She had made it into her personal garden; it had a iron fence that prevented her from falling off the edge, there were small designs of waves and circles incorporated into the design to show her love for the water. She really did love her city; but she loved the water as well, it always had a pure calmness to it that will forever put a smile on her face. Moving on, there were atleast 3 huge pots filled with white rose bushes, two of them had small buds while the one in the corner of the balcony was at full bloom. She smiled at the beautiful blooming flowers and took a small sniff of what smelled like pure happiness and joy. . .

" At least one of them bloomed, it smells heavenly too. . . "

She was never the best gardener, but at least one of them managed threw her terrible gardening skills. She looked out at the view from her balcony and saw the same yet magnificent sight. It was rows and rows of houses made from either whites bricks or white concrete, just like her house. Not to mention, the roofs of most houses were lined with black tiles that never seemed to have been weared down from recent or old storms. . .The best part of the view was her tower. . .She could only see a little bit of it towering over in the background of the breath-taking sight. . .That was all she needed to know, that her tower was still their the Eiffel tower. . .

The sky seemed weirdly off today, yet it fit perfectly into the whole setting. It seemed to have a light tone, as if the sky was trying to soften up all the dark and miserable colors and turn them into a lighter and completely new palette. . .It just made things looks softer and more pastel looking. She closed her eyes and told herself " Today is just perfect <3 " and smiled.

(Sorry if the was really long, I was trying to paint a picture and got to carried away in the setting. I also hope this makes up for me not having a narrative, it proves that I can write something like that anyway. . .)

What area(s) would you like to improve on?

Punctuation and grammar I really need help with it. Even though I'm in eight grade, I still tend to have acouple of punctuation and grammar errors in essays and writing pieces. I would also like to know how to spice up my writing to make the reader have a very visual and mental picture in their minds as they read my narratives.

Why do you want to this club?

To improve my writing skills and to help write more narratives since my school hardly allows us to do a free styled writing piece.
