At a museum located in Liverpool, England, a man dressed in black carried a black briefcase to the roof. He laid it on the ground to open it. Inside, there were the disassembled pieces of some kind of weapon, along with a pair of sunglasses with blue lenses. The figure began constructing a blaster and, when complete, he slid in the power source to activate it. Within the museum, there was a party. The guests were all wealthy. The gala was for the newest exhibit, a rock known as the dwarf star alloy. Everyone was so preoccupied, that when the man on the roof descended from a skylight via rope, no one noticed until he shouted. “Listen up!”

Silence spread across the crowd. All eyes were on the thief.

“Who do you think you are?” One patron asked.

The thief pulled out his gun and it shot a blue flame that froze the person who spoke up. When the security guards ran at the man, he froze them as well. While everyone was rushing out of the museum, the thief took the dwarf star alloy and escaped. He then drove to a private airfield, where a plane was awaiting him.

Once the thief entered and took his seat, the pilot asked him, “Did you get it, Leo?”

With a smirk, he responded, “It was no problem, Lisa. Now let’s head for Central City.”

A day later, The Flash was racing through the streets, stopping all crime that he came upon. He thwarted two convenience store robberies and a bank robbery. However, he had to run back to his fraternity to change for class. However, when he opened the front door, Professor Eobard Thawne was on the other side.

“Professor Thawne?” Barry responded.

“Mister Allen. I’m just here to make sure you’re feeling alright.”

“Well, I’m fine.”

“Feeling any different?”

“N-no.”

Barry brushed past Thawne, who mumbled to himself, “Barry Allen, you are a terrible liar.”

While Barry was attending Professor Stacy’s class, a transport truck heading for the S.T.A.R. Labs facility had left the Central City Museum. After ing one alley, two bikers began following the vehicle. Once close enough, the male biker pulled out a blaster that froze the back door. His partner shattered it with a shotgun. The guards inside tried to stop the thieves, but they were frozen as well.

“Time to bag and tag.” The leader informed his partner.

Unfortunately, multiple police cars arrived giving chase. The thieves knew success was growing slimmer, so the split up and abandoned the plan.

Once he was back in his fraternity house, Barry Allen watched the Channel 52 News.

“Earlier today, two criminals assaulted a S.T.A.R. Labs transport carrying dwarf star alloy. One of the suspects is believed to be Leonard Snart, also known as the international criminal Captain Cold. His accomplice is reported as possible his sister, Lisa Snart.”

Images of the criminals were shown. Barry knew it would be The Flash that would have to catch Captain Cold and he knew how. He knew the criminals would attempt to steal the dwarf star alloy from S.T.A.R. Labs. All he had to do was wait.

That night, Captain Cold and his sister Lisa broke into the facility with stolen identification. They snuck around until they found the lab containing the alloy. It was in the center of the room, as if on display.

“There she is.” Cold informed his sibling.

To their surprise, an unseen force knocked them down. Once they saw what it was, they saw The Flash.

“Who the hell are you?” Cold asked.

“You can call me The Flash.”

Lisa fired at the hero. Each bullet missed due to him being too fast.”

“Leo, I think we’re beaten,” Lisa suggested.

At that moment, a scientist left a room down the hall, behind the thieves. Cold got a cruel idea.

“No, we’re not.” He told his sister.

The criminal turned his cold gun on the scientist. The Flash attempted to pull the bystander out of harm’s way but was too late. The scientist became encased in ice. The Flash was devastated, a reaction that Cold used to his advantage. He froze the hero from the neck down. As his sister ran to get the dwarf star alloy, Cold approach the do-gooder, stopping nearly three feet from The Flash’s face.

Cold smirked. “You are a remarkable person. What are you?”

“Y-Y-You won’t get away with this.”

“I hope we meet again, Flash.”

Once Lisa had the dwarf star alloy, Cold punched The Flash and knocked him unconscious. When he woke up, he found himself on an observation table with L.G. Keysor nearby.

“What happened?” The Flash wondered.

“It’s alright, Barry.” Professor Keysor assured the young man. “I found you frozen in ice and the dwarf star alloy is missing. It is I who should be asking what happened.”

With a low grunt, the hero replied, “Cold.”

At the temporary hideout of Captain Cold and his sister, Lisa was reading a book. Cold himself was staring out a window, with his arms crossed behind his back.

“So, when are we cashing in the dwarf star stuff?” Lisa wondered.

“We’re not.”

Lisa dropped her book on the floor. “What are you talking about.”

“This city has a hero that is quite interesting. He is not easily defeated like the Batman or overly powered like that Superman. I think I have found a true rival here. Someone I feel is worth my time.”

“Big talk for a thief.”

“The time for thievery is over. Time to play the villain.”

Not long afterward, The Flash was in a lab with Professor Keysor, who was searching through the company’s systems from a computer.

“From what you told me, Captain Cold is using a Lexcorp Cold Gun.” Keysor explained. “One was reported stolen in Vienna, Austria. STAR Labs May not have built it, but we do understand its functions.” He pulled up schematics of the Cold gun. “It uses a flame of absolute cold. To beat it, you’ll need a weapon of the opposite: absolute heat.”

On a rather pleasant day, the City Hall of Central City was as busy as any other. All that came to a halt when one individual became frozen by Captain Cold. Everyone immediately screamed in panic, but all grew silent once Cold climbed on a desk and shouted, “Shut up.” All mouths clothes and their eyes turned to the villain. “I want The Flash. For every hour he doesn’t come, another one of you will perish.”

Soon enough, the hero of the city, The Flash, showed up. “Cold!”

The foe smirked. “The Flash.”

“Stop this and give yourself up.”

Cold chuckled softly. “You are rather intriguing, hero. I wonder what makes you tick.”

“Too bad I know what makes your gun work.” Flash pulls out the heat gun.

“Let me guess, that is the weapon that will defeat me?”

“It’s something to keep you from hurting others with that weapon.”

Cold smirked and put away gun away. Security handcuffed him, but his smirk didn’t fade. “By the way Flash, if you think that my plans are over, then think again.” The officers then took him away.

With the villain now under arrest, Barry returned the heat gun to Keysor. Later at S.T.A.R. Labs, Lisa Snart snuck in and stole the weapon. Also, Cold escaped from his holding cell. The two had made their getaway on a Ferris Air jet.

“So, what now?” Lisa asked. She then changed her tone to sarcasm. “What’s your master plan?”

Cold was examining the heat gun. “Something wonderful. It begins with an old friend.”
