∙ Appearance ∙
Aysel is a rather thin and pale woman, with permanent dark circles under her purple eyes and white hair, with some lilac undertones, usually styled into a low bun to keep it out of her face. Like many people in Zaun she has a few piercings, most notably on her ears and her nose bridge, although she’s not opposed to getting more. She also has a series of pretty significant burn scars that cover a good part of the right side of her body, going from her cheek to her thigh. In of style, she tends to prioritize practicality, especially when she’s at work, even if she likes wearing jewelry and make-up, most notably black lipstick and dark purple eyeshadow.
∙ Personality ∙
At first glance, Aysel is independent, calm and collected, rarely getting angry and remaining composed under pressure. Despite her reserved nature, she tends to be quite nice with the people around her, both in casual and professional settings. Nevertheless, she doesn’t open up a lot, if she ever does at all. Much preferring to not reveal many details about herself and deal with whatever issues she has in private. Ever the perfectionist, she always holds herself to very demanding standards.
She prefers not to lean on others and absolutely despises owing favors, mostly because she knows that nothing ever comes for free. So, from her perspective, it's better to be alone and take care of herself. She’s quite pragmatic and, over the years, she’s learned that the best solution available isn’t always an ideal one. Regardless of her pragmatism and general emotional distance, she genuinely cares about Zaun, its future and its people. Moreover, her upbringing has also made her into someone rather intelligent and adaptable, after all, she had to be if she wanted to survive.
As previously said, Aysel isn’t someone to whom deep relationships come easy, so, when she grows to personally care about someone, she’s deeply loyal towards them, despite not usually being the most emotional person. She’s quite dependable, but you won’t usually catch her relying on anyone.

∙ Abilities ∙
Besides being a talented medic, she also has quite a bit of knowledge on alchemy, since she asked Singed to teach her some in order to remain as useful as possible, not wanting to become an easily discarded asset. Having to fend for herself for a while, she had to learn some self-defense as well if she wanted to make it out alive, it's most definitely not her forte, but she's able to handle herself fairly well. She’s also pretty agile and elastic, even if she has gotten a bit rusty over the years. Furthermore, while not being proficient with most weapons, she is quite talented with throwing knives and has a very good aim in general.
∙ Backstory ∙
Born in Zaun, Aysel was lucky to have loving parents and a first happy few years of life. At least until her father ed away in a mine accident, leaving her in the sole care of her mother, a medic. Finding herself alone in the world, with no one else but her daughter, the woman soon became determined to give her the best odds of survival possible, teaching everything she knew from a very young age. Her desire to make sure her daughter survived, no matter what, led her to be harsh on the girl, treating her more like a student from which she expected the very best rather than a daughter, or even a child. Something that obviously put a lot of pressure on the girl, especially once she had to start working in a piltover-owned factory due to their bad financial position. There she would spend a big part of her childhood and eventually meet Ran, who quickly became her best (and only) friend.
It was out of the same desire to keep her safe that her mother, having lost any hope for change long, taught her that the best was to keep their head down and not cause trouble. Always telling her that trying to resist or change things would only lead her to an untimely death. That they had to do the best with what they had. And Aysel, being a girl who profoundly ired her mother, listened. At least until she started to grow up and realize that her advice, as well-meaning as it was, didn’t actually protect anyone. A belief that only solidified once her mother was killed by enforcers when she was sixteen. She hadn't done anything bad, definetely not anything that warranted lethal violence, she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
From there, Aysel had to fend pretty much for herself. Without her mother’s income, she was soon kicked out of her apartment. And, while she could count with Ran’s help, she didn’t want to be dependent on anyone nor put the pressure of sustaining another person on her also struggling friend. So she tried to get by on her own. It was during those years after her mother’s death that Aysel started to get involved with Silco, Vander and their plans, ing several rallies. Eventually, being part of the uprising in the day of ash. And she would have died there, surrounded by fire and red smoke, if it weren’t for Sevika, who noticed she was still alive and brought her somewhere safer. But it wasn’t without its consequences, as the uprising left her with a huge scar on her body and a debt towards the other woman. A debt she felt she had to return.
After the uprising, Aysel laid low, only maintaining regular with Ran. Nevertheless, this was also the time when she started using more and more of her abilities to help people when she could, despite her lack of resources and adequate medical supplies. She was also finally able to get an apartment, it was small and far from ideal, but it was hers, and that’s all that mattered. Things weren’t good, but she managed. At least until the enforcers came down to the undercity after the explosion in Jayce’s apartment. Upon which she didn’t hesitate to go and talk to Vander. But he just told her to keep a low profile and wait for the situation to blow over, so she left the place fairly upset. And it wouldn’t be long until she’d get the chance to do something. When Ran showed up at her doorstep with Lock and an unconscious Sevika, her arm burnt charcoal black. They barely had time to explain what had happened when Aysel got to work. The arm wasn’t salvageable, but she did manage to keep her alive, letting her stay at her apartment while she recovered enough to be able to go back to live her own. It was only after Sevika had gotten back to her apartment that Silco paid her a visit, bringing an offer with him: He would provide her with medical supplies and a proper clinic, a chance to do something good for the undercity. In exchange, she would be a part of his organization and, as such, she would respond to him, follow his orders and patch up his men. Seeing that he’d gotten rid of Vander and was likely going to be the next leader of the underground, Aysel accepted. Especially as it seemed that he was someone actually willing to stand up to Piltover.
Silco kept up his part of the bargain and thanks to him, she was able to open a small clinic in one of Zaun’s alleyways. It wasn’t anything fancy or as well-equipped as the ones in Piltover, but it allowed her to do her job far better than she’d ever been able to. She also was able to ask Singed to teach her alchemy, a request born both out of a desire to remain useful and genuine curiosity. Shimmer fascinated her. She didn’t agree with the mass distribution of it, mostly due to its effects on the body, but she did understand its purpose at first. Nevertheless, as the years went by, she started to grow disillusioned with their methods and how they seemed to be doing more harm than good. She soon started to wonder how a nation ruled by Silco would look like, if it would really make things better for Zaun. Not like it mattered, she was in too deep, too wrapped up in his web. After all, she needed the the kingpin gave her to properly practice as a doctor. And wasn’t better to be able to help some than none? She was also all too aware that, at that point, if anyone took out Silco, it would probably be one of the chem barons. Even if it wasn’t, they would be the ones to take advantage of the power vacuum, as the alternatives weren’t actually powerful enough to take control. So she didn’t feel like she had many options.
