This week’s Shin Newspaper brings in fresh announcements and some long-awaited sequels! Two new anime adaptations are coming your way: Osananajimi to wa LoveCom ni Naranai and Ponkotsu Fūkiin to Skirt Take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi. We’re also getting an anime film for Kusunoki no Bannin, plus season renewals for Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! and My Happy Marriage. Osananajimi to wa LoveCom ni Naranai gets Anime

CyberAgent announced that it is producing a television anime adaptation of Shinya Misu's Osananajimi to wa LoveCom ni Naranai (I'll Never Have a Romantic Comedy with My Childhood Friend) manga that will premiere in 2026. Tezuka Productions is animating the project. CyberAgent also unveiled a teaser promotional video, which features live-action footage, and teaser visual.

The manga centers on Eiyū, a high school boy whose two childhood friends, Shio and Akari, also go to the same school as him. He has now started looking at them with both romantic and lustful eyes, though he knows that they have no interest in him, which causes him no end of worrying. However, Shio and Akari have their own secrets.

Ponkotsu Fūkiin to Skirt Take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi gets Anime

A new official website opened to announce that Takuma Yokota's Ponkotsu Fūkiin to Skirt Take ga Futekisetsu na JK no Hanashi (Story of the Useless Public Morals Committeeman and the High School Girl With Inappropriate Skirt Length) manga is getting a television anime.

Daiji Iwanaga is directing the anime at Zero-G. Yō Himuro is deg the characters.

The story centers on a boy from the public morals committee who seems smart but is actually useless, and a girl who seems like a problem child but is actually very capable.

Kusunoki no Bannin gets Anime Film

Flag Pictures announced the anime film adaptation of Keigo Higashino's Kusunoki no Bannin (The Camphorwood Custodian) novel, which will premiere in 2026. Sword Art Online and ERASED director Tomohiko Ito is directing the film at A-1 Pictures. Aniplex will distribute the film. The film's super teaser visual was also revealed:

The novel's story centers on Reito, a young man who was unreasonably fired from his job, and in revenge has committed a crime and gets arrested. He tries to appeal to the investigator to no avail, and he is sent to the prosecutor's office, where he waits for his indictment. Suddenly, a lawyer appears and tells Reito that he can be released if he follows his client's order.

Reito takes the gamble and accepts the condition, and the client turns out to be his late mother's half-sister, Senshu Yanagisawa. Senshu has only one order for Reito: to become the camphorwood tree custodian at Tsukigō shrine. Reito becomes the camphorwood tree custodian and meets different people who visit the temple grounds for different reasons.

Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! gets 2nd Season

The "Tsuwabuki High School Literature Club's Extracurricular Activity" event of the Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! anime announced that the anime will receive a second season. An announcement video was released.

The first season of the anime adaptation of Takibi Amamori and Imigimuru's Make Heroine ga Ooisugiru! (Too Many Losing Heroines!) light novel series premiered in July 2024. Crunchyroll streamed the series under the English title Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! as it aired in Japan.

My Happy Marriage gets New Anime

Kadokawa announced that a new anime is in production for Akumi Agitogi and Tsukiho Tsukioka's My Happy Marriage light novel series. The announcement follows the broadcast of the 13th and final episode for the second television anime season. The staff shared a promotional video and visual.

The 13th episode for the second season (the 26th episode overall for the anime and the final episode of the second season) was postponed due to production delays on Netflix and on television in Japan. The episode was originally scheduled to air on March 31.

New Manga Sonata wa Ittai Dare Nanda

This year's 18th issue of Akita Publishing's Shōnen Champion magazine announced that Kotoba Inoya will launch a new manga titled Sonata wa Ittai Dare Nanda (Who Might You Be?) in the magazine's 24th issue on May 15.

The magazine describes the manga as a "dramatic fantasy" story where a hero forgets everything after defeating the dark lord, meeting someone who claims to be part of the hero's family.

New Manga Cinderella Athletes

Manga creator Nyoijizai launched a new manga titled Cinderella Athletes in Kodansha's Comic Days manga app.

The manga centers on Keisuke Kaneda, an elite businessman who picked the wrong side in a corporate power struggle in his company, and is forced to abandon his dreams of an easy white-collar life. He is assigned as a general manager to the company's sponsored but neglected all-female athletic team "Asterias" — composed of a blonde tsundere tennis player, a seemingly emotionless long distance runner, a loud gyaru judo practitioner, and two equally tall childhood friend volleyball players (one airheaded, and the other shy and reticent).
