#AAMondayEvents

Hello everyone! I'm Cyn and

I'll be your host for this week's QOTW!

opl: kiana

For those who don't know, QOTW is part of a series where each Monday a member of the Welcoming Committee either asks an anime or community related question, or hosts a mini game event that people who are interested can participate in.

This week I brought you a question and all that's left to do is for you to leave your answer to it in the comments! The best and most interesting responses will be added to the blog as well.

Check out our previous Question of the Week here!

For more information about Monday Events, check out this blog.

Which anime villain's backstory made you suddenly understand why they became evil?

Please note that inappropriate and troll comments will be deleted.

My Answer:

I'd say Madara, he was a kid with a dream who met another kid with that same dream (Hashirama). The both of them were supposed to hate each other but they shared a vision. The vision was to create a village where children wouldn't have to die in battle anymore and clans could live together in peace.

Fast forward, things happened between them, Madara felt betrayed by the very dream he helped create and took his own path towards peace.

In the end, Madara wanted peace so badly he became a villain to achieve it by choosing a path that would mark him as a villain in a story where he once dreamed of being a hero.

Rabbit (Devil May Cry)

Rabbit lost his parents and got adopted in a family where he faced cruelty. He somehow escaped into demon realm, found a new home, but just for it to be raided by other demons.

He somehow got his people on Earth, but just to be killed by humans and learning that even humans can't trust him.

He ended up turning into evil to save his people, seems reasonable.

You should have added "and why" in the question, otherwise its just a one word answer

Shigaraki Tomura from My Hero Academia's ,his childhood trauma and the neglect he experienced, made his descent into villainy seem almost inevitable. :)

Johan from Monster is one of those villains where, once you learn his backstory, everything suddenly clicks. He wasn’t born evil, he was shaped by a system that treated children like experiments, robbed of safety. The horrors he endured at the orphanage and the psychological trauma he faced as a child doesn’t justify what he does, but they explain it. You realize Johan isn’t just some cold-blooded manipulator, he’s a product of abuse, and the loss of self.

He Xuan and Shi Wudu from Heavens Official's Blessing. He is a victim of destiny swap. He was meant to have a good life and ascend to become a god. Unfortunately, he was born on the same day as Shi Qingxuan, who had the very opposite destiny. Qingxuan was meant to be cursed by a monster as a baby. Shi Wudu, his older brother, made sure to keep Qingxuan's identity hidden by dressing him as a girl so the monster won't be able to curse him. Unfortunately, one night, Qingxuan went looking for his brother because Wudu had to stay longer practising. The monster found Qingxuan and learned his name, which led to him getting cursed. Wudu couldn't bear seeing his brother suffer and had tried everything, but nothing worked. He then was forced to swap his brother's destiny with He Xuan leading He Xuan to suffer and never ascended to become a God. Qingxuan got a better life and became a god instead. Wudu also became a god. Right before He Xuan died, he saw Wudu and thought it was suspicious. So he became a ghost and found out about the destiny swap and vowed to take revenge. He killed another god who had no connection to his suffering just so he could pose as him and get closer to the brothers. Him and Qingxuan became close, and Qingxuan considered him as his best friend. Unfortunately, in the end, he still went on to take revenge. He killed Wudu in front of Qingxuan and took back his destiny, leaving him to become a mortal, weak, and could barely walk. I read somewhere that Qingxuan could be saved, but he felt so bad for He Xuan that he refused because he thinks he deserved to suffer for living in He Xuan's destiny. He Xuan is long dead, which means after he gets his revenge, he will slowly disappear. But due to his guilt for hurting his best friend, he watched Qingxuan, and he would probably just watch him get older and die from afar because he felt so bad that he couldn't face him. He will disappear once Qingxuan dies.

(I don't everything clearly, so I could be wrong)
