I was rewatching my hero Acadamia again the other day and came across this scene with an image I'd never really seen before. It was back in season 2, episode 20, where All Might reveals the full truth about their quirk, One For All. All Might was discussing All For One and how he thought he "defeated" the villain and then proceeded to show us this image for a few seconds.

This was truly a shocking image to me, and it got me thinking about a few things.

Was being the symbol of peace everything All Might imagined? When he was young, he wanted to create this symbol that society could look to and feel safe, a hero that would leave a rooted feeling of hope when he arrived. In society, though, heroes don't kill the bad guys since they're arrested and locked away. We know it would be looked down upon if a hero ended up killing someone because of future seasons where we're told about heroes like Lady Magant and Hawks. Their murderous actions are kept a secret or explained in such a way that makes it seem like that was the only and last resort. And considering the type of person and hero All Might is, I would never have guessed that he'd be okay with ending someone's life.

So is this his first time killing someone? Along the way, we can't see his facial expressions, but his hands are out and his palms facing upwards, leaning on his legs as he's down on the floor. To me, it suggests he's in shock, denial or spiritually defeated himself, suggests it was probably the time or that he REALLY didn't want to do it. It's probably both. I'm also interested in the impact this had on him. Is he the type of person to convince himself it was for the greater good and to move on or was he devastated?

Did he know he'd have to kill All For One before he got the quirk? I often think that Nana Shimura must have told him he'd have to face a horrendous villain, but was there ever a discussion about potential murder? And if so, my perspective of him would change. Knowing All Might accepted a quirk with already a ionate burden to be the hope of society, but also knowing he'd have to kill is something I don't feel like most could do.

Why did he down the quirk to Izuku Midoriya? We are told that All Might was under the impression that All For One was dead / defeated, so what exactly did he it on for? It's clear that the quirk's only purpose was to defeat AFO and if he wanted a successor, he could still have scoped out a student and personally trained them without ing on the quirk, so was he ing it on simply to keep the quirk around in case of a different villain years from now? It's likely he just wanted a next generation of hope that was also quite overpowered, but this never sat right with me.

We're told how the quirk becomes stronger and more improved each time it gets ed on, but both All Might and Deku are much stronger than the average pro hero. They're, in fact, so much more powerful, that it could have implications in two ways.

Firstly, the longer the quirks get ed on to unrelated people, the more questions there will be.

Considering how, back in the first season, Tsuyu Asui was able to quickly make a connection in similarities and the close relationship between the successor and successor, it's easy to assume others would catch on eventually. The other issue would be how physically strong the new successor would need to become. Already, it was hard for Midoriya to learn control along with preparing his body to handle it. Just imagine 8 more generations of added quirks and strengths. Ignoring the fact that we know Midoriya is the last person to hold it, All Might doesn't, so how long exactly does he expect it to go on for? All might be ed on to OFA without truly understanding the burden he'd be giving to Midoriya and I can't help but wonder if he kept that heavy guilt to himself or if he's proud of who he chose.

My biggest question, however, is whether All Might believes in the ability to save someone's heart?

Although it's true how impossible it seems to save AFO given how long he's had to change and all the heartless decisions and things he has done. But when it comes to Midoriya, there's no question whether he'd kill or save them. I sometimes wonder if All Might wishes he were more like Midoriya, whether that be based on his heart and actions, succeeding where he couldn't or just from how nieve he was back in the nearly episodes from what's to come.

I'm not saying All Might 100% did kill or try to kill All For One, I'm just theorising based off the image they show which, to me, implies that he actually did think he killed him.
