Here’s a little entry for a challenge based on Mermay. I did wind up finishing this last minute, but I’m mainly just glad to have gotten it done. I’ve been missing out on a lot of art challenges lately, so I’m hoping that this one will be that trigger that reignites some of my motivation.
This guy wasn’t necessarily based on any specific species of fish. I had planned on heading in that direction, but in the end, I chose to redesign an original character from a challenge I did a while ago. I tried to keep most of his original color palette, but the rest of his design sort of came together on his own.
I thought giving him hooks for hands would be an interesting idea, but the way I drew them looked off, so I decided to just give him one.
All in all, I had a lot of fun with this and I hope you guys like my new fish dude. :raised_hands:
