Making my sketchbook cover

My art class assigned us to make a creative cover for our sketchbooks. I literally had no idea what to do so I went to my safe place and just drew cats.

We got Fire on the left and Cornbread right.

Started off with a basic sketch of their head shapes.

My dad just got me some thin sharpies and I’ve been really excited to use them.

Colors

Now I kinda messed up Fire’s colors. Unlike Cornbread, I didn’t start out with a base coat of yellow.

I just straight up used orange on her and now she looks like she’s sunburnt.

Like me. I just got back from Florida and I have a huge sunburn on my shoulder.

Cutting it out

The fur made it difficult to cut out but luckily it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.
