Since it’s half term here in the UK, it gets super busy at the zoo. Here was my tasks for yesterday!
1) Feed and spot clean Zoma the Gentle Lemur. He gets his dry food for morning feeds and spot cleaning is picking up poo, dry bamboo and replacing the water

2) Feed and spot clean the Ring tailed lemurs. They get their dry food in the morning and spot cleans consists of picking up poo, dry bamboo and replacing water.

3) collection bamboo for the red pandas from the red ruffled lemur enclosure. Red pandas need 1.5kg of bamboo.

4) Feed Asian short clawed otters and clean windows from their enclosure to red ruffled enclosure

5) Clean windows for spider monkeys and maras, gentle lemur and ocelot.

6) Observe Nala the European Lynx’s behaviour and feeding response. She’s 26 years old so regular behaviour observations and visual health checks need to be done. We also had a vet come in and check her and Mo the red panda.

7) Do afternoon feeds for the spider monkeys, gentle lemur and ring tailed lemurs. This also includes shutting the animal entrance to outdoor enclosure for the night, turning off the lights and doing visual health checks.

Through the day, I also guided families to enclosures they didn’t know how to get to, including the capybaras and the Komodo dragon. I also did food prep tasks like washing up equipment, preparing dry feeds for the following day and cleaning food prep stations.
I had a 20 minute break and a 40 minute lunch.
