The Life of a Curator or Leader

I wrote this because I think some of you are missing the bigger picture. I love being a leader. I love planning and hosting events, but I also love spending time with my family. With my little brothers Gavin and Ian and my newborn brother Asher who is on the way. And I would love to have more time with my girlfriend. But I made a commitment to be here. I volunteered to do this and I love it, but when I take the time out of my life to host an event or hold a meeting and few people show up, to me it's not worth it. I could be spending time with my brothers. No I don't want pity, I want you to understand that I cancelled the events because it's not worth me putting so much effort into planning and it's not worth me taking 1 or 2 hours out of my day to host, when no are going to make the time to attend. I know my leadership team would agree. They all have siblings and they all miss out on things in life to be here. But they volunteered for that. They knew what they were getting into. What becomes the issue for us is taking so time out of our lives to plan an event and no one shows up. That's why we cancelled the events. That is the big picture you are missing.

When people just look at being a leader/curator, they probably don't see that there is a person on the otherside of their screen handling all of this. And some people do get angry with your decisions which is unfair to you and everyone else.

I hope maybe next month people will attend things and participate (I will as I am going to have time) but also understand that if you or somebody else decides not to host it, that is how it will be.
