——————
Cold was what touched my skin.
As I saw everyone huddled together, I felt a pang of sadness from within.
With brisk steps, I hurried across the street.
The only conversation I had was with me and my heartbeat.
The pack whispered to one another, and the wind carried away their lies.
I only watched as my friends ed by my eyes.
Soon as the bus came, everyone crowded.
I stood afar, looking up at the sky that clouded.
As I stepped on, conversations hung low.
Everyone was on my every move, but I only kept my gaze down below.
A girl sat silently at a window, peering outside.
I sat beside her, relieved I could confide.
The wheels began to turn, the houses swept past in a blur.
Speed bumps and traffic lights ed as my head began to stir.
Despite all the people that sat beside me, I was alone.
The people there were in their own zone.
I’d never be able to talk to anyone, they wouldn’t understand.
I was left with my own thoughts as I planned.
My thoughts weren’t my own, they were entirely about him.
Anything else in front of my eyes became incredibly dim.
A sharp turn introduced us to the school’s back.
Just before we stopped, I began to pack.
With one final look out the window, I sighed.
The bus jerked to a halt, and peers jumped off the ride.
It was only then that I’d thought of what would meet me inside.
