An interview with: Cat.

Hello, Hey, Hi!

Today, I'm here with another interview for 13. It's been a while, yes, but I'm/we're back; and this time, I have interviewed the lovely :hearts: Cat :hearts: , an amazing curator and person.

A lot of the questions were related to the 1960's/70's because that was the theme. Read along for Cat's brilliant answers!

What do you think you would be doing with your life and/or in your free time if you lived in the 60's or 70's?

In today's day and age we spend way too much time looking at a screen. If I were to live back in the 1960/1970s I would be spending a lot more time experimenting with my art style along with spending time outside in the sunshine and around nature.

If you could meet anyone who lived through the 60's or 70's, who would you choose to meet and why?

This is a little bit of a cheat as he was born in 1966 and isn't really iconic from the 60/70s but I would love to meet Heston Blumenthal. I love to cook and he specialises in molecular gastronomy (basically edible science) which really interests me.

What is your most and least favourite subject at school? Why?

I find it hard to decide between art and food studies as they are both creative and contain applied science. I'm really ionate about both areas. But sadly my least favourite subject is English, analysing books isn't really me favourite thing hahaha.

How would you have dealt with things, such as communicating with people or researching, without having internet back in the 60's or 70's?

These days my main method, like most, is through the internet and it's instant messaging services. If I was back in the 60/70s I would most likely be using the landline phone to call my friends or spend more time in person with them. As for research, I guess I would just have to adapt to finding information from reading books at a local library, which would probably give more accurate information than the internet nowadays anyway.

What do you think your fashion sense would have been like if you lived in the 60's/70's? How would you have dressed yourself?

I would have most likely gone with the rockabilly style. Personally black, white and grey with sporadic pops of red lipstick or a red bandana. Leather jackets and denim would be my go to.

Where in this world would you love to live the most and why?

I would love to live in . Food is my life, and French food appeals to me. Fresh bread, croissants and gâteaus. Their lifestyle seems simple and healthy yet they know how to enjoy good food. If only I could speak the language.

What do you think your music taste would have been like and what would you have listened to if you lived in the 60's/70's, knowing that music back then was different to today's music?

I would have most likely listened to Elvis, either that or the Beatles as as they were very popular in that time period.

If you were stranded on a desert island back in the 60's or 70's, what three items would you want to have with you? How would you have tried to survive?

Well since it's back in the 60/70s any form of technology would be limited so let's make this old school. I would want a knife, as it would aid with being able to kill for food along with other useful things like creating a shelter. I think a metal container of some sort would also be important as it can be used for water storage but it needs to be fire proof so I can boil the water to make it drinkable. And finally a flint and steal to use to create sparks when starting a fire for warmth at night, boiling water, cooking food, and inevitably creating smoke as a way of calling for help. The knife could also be used as a reflection tool, if polished enough, to attract more attention.

If you were a vegetable, what vegetable would you be and why?

A pumpkin. Because I'm full of surprises, many think I'm a vegetable, I get used as a vegetable, but I'm actually a berry. 🙃

What is your favourite 60's/70's movie and/or show that was running back then, if you have one?

The first show that comes to mind when I think of the 60s and 70s is Doctor Who. Although I haven't watched the original series, the show has been around for a long time. As for shows that I have actually seen the original seasons, you can't forget "I dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched", they are very classic of the time period.

How do you think the story of the show "13 Reasons Why" would differ if it was set in the 60's/70's, and in what ways?

Well Hannah wouldn't have a cell phone, which means that Justin would either have to call the house or prearrange things while at school. This would have made things a little more difficult. The same goes for the Dollar Valentine, as there would be no mobile numbers to call. I think the plot would have been very different, if they tried to keep it with the same reasons as the current one, I don't think some would have been as effective and Hannah might not have killed herself. But if the main objective was for Hannah to commit suicide, then the reasons would have had to change, or the means of achieving those reasons would differ.

If you were a season (spring, summer, fall/autumn, or winter), which season would you be and why?

I would be spring because as you take the time to know me, I further warm up to you. Spring weather is comforting, giving hope that the cold you feel now isn't forever, warm times are coming.

If you could go back in time to the 60's or 70's, and do or change anything, what would you do and why?

I think I wouldn't want to change anything due to "the butterfly effect" however it's quite tempting. Especially with all the issues with Korea and Trump currently. I think it would be great to just experience the culture. Music and art were a big influence on the time period. And although I'm not a large fan of the Andy Warhol psychedelic pop art style, it would be interesting to see how society was so different to how it is today.

Who is/are your favourite person/people that was/were born in the 60's or 70's?

I really enjoy to watch Johnny Depp movies. He is a very versatile actor and throws him self into the part.

What is the best advice you've ever been given?

Oh hmm there's so much to choose from. I guess the one that has had the biggest impact on my life is that no matter the situation you are in, you need to that everyone has a different perspective. This has been helpful so many times. When in an argument, that they may not be wrong, but have a different perspective or opinion. Or when a teacher is getting mad at you for not doing your homework, they are just trying to do their job, you handing your assignment in late could mean they need to mark it rather than spend time with their family. When you are feeling down, that your perspective of the situation is being influenced by your emotions and you just need to step back, look at things from a different view point to find a solution to your problem. Perspective is everything.
